From a very early stage young boys are taught that they are supposed to look a certain way. What it means to be masculine seems to already be defined before we even know what it means. These expectations follow us our whole lives. But what about saying "Fuck you" to expectations. Ideas like these are outdated and unwelcome. Being a man does not mean you have to be covered in bulging muscles. Benji has struggled with this acceptance of himself. His frame is naturally small and not what we're taught a man should look like. Why is that? Why aren't we taught to love ourselves and to love other people for themselves? Beauty is beauty and I cannot wait to photograph Benji again.
