The Night We Stayed
I didn’t set out to tell a grand story with this series. I was more interested in what happens when nothing in particular is happening but the moment is allowed to unfold on its own. Photographing these two during a quiet sleepover felt less like directing a scene and more like being invited to witness something already complete.
I kept my distance, both physically and emotionally, so the images could breathe. The room was dim, the light soft, and the atmosphere unforced. What drew me in were the small, almost invisible gestures: the way one shifted closer without thinking, the shared laughter that faded into a comfortable silence, the stillness that settled in once the night deepened. These were not moments you could stage, they had to be noticed.
If anything, this is about trust. Not just the trust they have in each other, but the trust they extended to me by allowing me into such a private space. My role was simply to pay attention, and to honor the moments that might otherwise slip by unnoticed.
